Foundation Accomplishments 2012

Over $600,000 in grants and scholarships awarded since January 2007

Over $120,000 in grants and scholarships awarded in 2012:
  • $48,000 to area non-profit organizations as part of 5th annual unrestricted grants program
  • $59,000 in scholarship grants to county youth
  • $13,000 in additional grants to non-profit organizations from the restricted grants program


Service Improvements in 2012:
  • 2012 annual report published and distributed in the spring
  • Laptop and portable projector purchased for use in public presentations
  • Improved website with Facebook and Youtube capabilities to communicate with the community using informational, pictorial, and video postings
  • Upgraded website that is more attractive, informative, and user-friendly

Financial Growth in 2012:
  • 18.14% net asset growth
  • $1.999 Million in assets at year-end
  • 3 New funds started bringing the number of active funds to 47
  • Operating Expenses $33,500 (down from $36,200 in 2011)

New Faces in 2012:
  • Two new board members, Donald Albright and Kevin Finks

Community Outreach in 2012:
  • May Reception for 2012 grant recipients
  • Autumn Luncheon for fund sponsors and supporters
  • Hosted 2012 Shenandoah County Fair Booth
  • Developed a PowerPoint presentation and movie explaining the Foundation’s mission
  • Presentations to civic groups and donors about how the Foundation can help them achieve their charitable goals
