Overview for Donors

The Shenandoah Community Foundation makes it easy and fun to support your community or your favorite cause, church, or charity, and YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE WEALTHY TO DO IT!

Choose one of the following tax deductible donation options below:

  1. Give any amount to the general work of the Foundation by sending a check payable to SCF to our mailing address. It will be added to our Unrestricted Endowment Fund and will be pooled with other gifts to be invested and start earning income right away.

  2. You can make a donation of any size to any of the Foundation’s existing funds. Take a look at the fund descriptions (See drop-down menu under “SCF Funds”), and we bet you’ll find something that tugs at your heartstrings. Make your check payable to SCF, but be sure you add a note or a memo line entry with the fund name you wish to support.

  3. To start a  named endowment fund of any kind, contact us or see How to Start a Fund.

Q: How much does it take to create a meaningful and permanent income stream?

A: $10,000 in a fund will generate between $400 and $500 a year to its intended recipient (a qualified charity or a scholarship recipient). When you are unable to make a gift of that size yourself, consider this: the same amount can be raised when 500 people give $20 each, 200 people give $50, 100 people give $100 or 50 people give $200. There’s more than one way to reach your goal! Some of our donors have fund raisers and other events to promote their cause.
