Donor Advised Funds

This type of fund provides a way for donors to make recommendations to the Foundation concerning the distribution of the proceeds of the fund. There is a great deal of flexibility with this kind of fund, depending on donor needs and desires and whether the donor wants to submit a list of recommended distributions on a regular basis or leave more discretion to the Foundation Board. This may be ideal for a client who needs a large tax deduction in a specific year with the opportunity to spread disbursement to individual charities over several years.

Donations of any size to a particular fund should be made payable to Shenandoah Community Foundation with the name of the specific fund in the memo line. Undesignated donations will be added to the Unrestricted Endowment Fund. You also may start a fund of your own. For more information on how to do that, go to Foundation FAQs.
