Unrestricted Funds

UNRESTRICTED FUNDS are those whose income may be used without restriction by the Foundation Board to meet community needs. Donations of any size to any of these funds will help build the future capacity of the Foundation to meet future needs.

Operating Fund (1999) Gifts of any size to this fund will help with ongoing     administrative costs.

Unrestricted Endowment Fund (2006) was established by the Board to                 create a source of income for future administrative and grant-making                 needs of the Foundation.

Herbert Parker Unrestricted Endowment Fund (2006) was established by a         bequest from founding board member Herbert Parker to provide a source         of income for administrative and grant-making needs of the Foundation.

The Woodstock Fund (2007) receives income from an anonymous charitable         lead trust that will end in 2027. The donors wished to provide a source of         income for administrative and grant-making needs of the Foundation.

The Founders’ Fund (2009) was established by the Board on the occasion of         the Foundation’s Tenth Anniversary to honor original organizer, Warren             B. French, Jr., and to recognize the efforts of all the founding board                 members. It provides a source of income for grant-making needs of the             Foundation.



Donations of any size to a particular fund should be made payable to Shenandoah Community Foundation with the name of the specific fund in the memo line. Undesignated donations will be added to the Unrestricted Endowment Fund. You also may start a fund of your own. For more information on how to do that, go to Foundation FAQs.
